High Oil Pressure?

I Have a 2000 Silverado 1500 5.3l, 100,000mi. I had to replace my oil pan recently. (busted it) Don't Ask! After replacement I noticed that my oil pressure gauge when starting form cold would read about 60psi, would drop to 40 when warm and ideling. But when driving would go back to 60 or slightly above. I can't remember what the readings were before i changed the pan, but it just seems a little high to me. Can anyone give any guidance? I would appreciate it greatly.

Seems damn near spot on to me. If you had "high" oil pressure you'd know because seals would start blowing out.

40 is fine anything above that is great.

i run right around there depending on how cold it is outside at start up, i run about 40 psi when at full temp and idleing...the highest i have seen my truck go to is 65 psi on cold start up but it was -30F

My truck does that too but i have an oil leak. Start-up is around 60psi, then when i start driving when the engine is still cold, it will jump around 60-70psi untill it warms up. Once warm, it is around 40-50psi idling and driving. For me, if it still reads high when the engine is warm, time to add oil. i havnt had time to find the leak but its coming from the back of the motor around heads/distributer.

shoulden't it read low pressure if its low on oil?
