Accessing Air Filter With Airaid Intake Tube

Recommended Posts

I installed an Airaid MIT last fall. Last weekend, I decided to clean my air filter so I popped the hood and went to work. After removing the screws, I started to lift the top off the air box. I could not get the top of the box off enough to get the air filter out. It seems that the MIT and new coupling that I installed are causing too much pressure to be placed on the top of the air box. I guess I'll have to loosen up the MIT set-up to get my air filter out. Has anybody else run into this problem?

That's what you get for putting one of those things on your truck.

Me, too. Remove the airbox screws, loosen the clamp to the intake manifold sleeve, and pry out the hose clamp on the radiator hose. THEN you can rotate up the assembly enough to get the filter out. Easy enough, huh? PITA!

How often are you removing the air filter? If its once a year is it really that big a deal to loose 2 clamps and remove it? I could see if it was every month but at the frequency of a filter change its a minor inconvience to me. (Yes I do have an MIT)

I agree. It is a minor inconvenience. I just went to change the filter and discovered this issue and was curious if anyone else had run into this problem.
