2006 Sierra 1500 Hd Door Handle

My father has a 2006 Sierra 1500HD, which was bought used, and I believe has aftermarket door handles. They are color matched white with chrome handles and the problem is that the actual "bucket" will not stay tight. The door handles are flopping around and almost falling out. Have had them retightened a the dealership before purchase, but are loose again. I have loked but am not sure how to get in the door to tighten them up? I'm familiar with door panel removal, but just cant see where to get at them to tighten them up. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I believe there should be a very tiny hole somewhere on them were you can insert a alan wrench to tighten them. You're talking about the interior handles, correct?

If you're talking about the exterior door handle there are 2 or maybe it's 3 nuts inside the door. You have to remove the panel for the one and there is a rubber plug you can pull out along the edge of the door to get access to the other nut. Maybe back them off and get some locktite on them if they keep coming loose.

It is on the exterior and I've pulled the plug but haven't see much to get at. I'll have to take the panel back off and really take a good look this time. It started raining last time just as soon as I got the panel off, so that put a crimp in things. I'll keep you guys posted, thanks a lot

There will be one 10mm nut that is behind the plug on the edge of the door. There are two 10mm nuts behind the door panel. One of them you can use a socket on but the other is easier to use a wrench and you have to stick your arm in the door. I can't find any links that still have pictures from when I installed mine.

Thanks, I'll have to try that when it warms up outside, as long as they don't fall off by then lol

Replace the nuts with nylon locking nuts and they will not back off. Or at least use a flat and split lock washer under the existing nuts. And some blue Loktite ont he threads.
