Rear Lift Blocks

I’ve recently decided to try and replace the blocks in the rear of the truck. I was thinking of getting the Zone 2” or the readylift 3” blocks. My question is will I have to replace my rear shocks or get extensions for them if I go either route? Also will replacing the blocks put extra stress on any part of the vehicle or change the ride quality?

I had to (3" blocks). I've heard of people using factory shocks with 3", but when the shop was taking my RC 3" lift off to ship back, I kept the blocks and they said that putting my factory shocks back on there wouldn't have enough extention. I bought some procomp ones for $100 bucks anyways. Like I said, I've heard of people doing it, but they can't have much down travel after going 2" higher. I would get shock extensions or new shocks.

I think you would be ok with the 2" blocks withthe factory setup.

And no, they won't change the ride much at all or put more stress on anything. I don't think you would be able to tell a difference until you get into the 5"-6" block range. Even then, it only bounces a little more is what most have said.

Are you replacing the stock block? going bigger? I'm assuming you have a 1/2 ton? I think the block is 2" stock. Even if you go 3" the shocks should be ok.

Yeah, you didn't say what year the truck was. NNBS rear blocks are 1.25" tall I think, so if you are replacing that with a 3", that is almost 2" higher.

i replaced the rear factory 1.25" blocks with the factory 3" blocks and have had no problems.

they stated that if you are doing hardcore extensive shock cycling (shock extended then compressed over and over) they reccommend the extender, but for some offroad and normal driving its not worth it.

however i am putting on the 3" body lift, and it might be worth it to install the shock extenders then.

What will the body lift have to do with your shocks (unless you are talking about installing them since you are already under the truck)?
