I'll start from the beginning. I have some minor stomach problems which occasionally, but not too terribly often, cause major pain & discomfort. I'm Stage 1 lactose intolerant and alergic to egg whites. Many foods churn my stomach and send me running for the bathroom, but 90% of the time I don't know what is the true culprit. I've learned to just deal with it over the years though. I've learned to avoid foods with milk, cream & egg whites. However, getting my fricking coworkers to learn to dealwith it is the new struggle. Every other job I've ever had, everyone's understood that from time to time, Mike goes home sick becuase he's wrenched over in pain, but not this one.

Last night, I get this gut wrenching stomach pain... it feels like i'm being turned inside out, so I took a couple maalox before bed and it helped a little bit, but I didn't sleep well at all cuz of it. And when I wake up around 10:30 the first thing I have to do is spend 10 minutes on the can sh*tting my guts out, but that didn't help the stomach pain. Now the fun part.... I have to be to work at 12.

Luckily, I was working w/ someone today so I go to call her and tell her I feel like **** and won't be in but the phone's were still forwarded to our corporate office, where noone is, cuz the mall (where I'm scheduled to work today) doesn't open til 12. so I tried again at 5 till noon and talked to Tiff (the Girl I work with).... told here I was feeling horrible, was laying on the couch basicly immobile & needing to be within 10 seconds of a bathroom, etc etc. So about 10 mins later, I get a call from the manager of the Mall Store who has the day off today(who really isn't my boss - she's just a [no offense to women] a typical overbearing woman manager) Telling me I"d better be deathly sick. "We all work when we're sick.... Do you have a fever? what's wrong" And I told her "I don't have a fever, but I've spent all morning in the bathroom and I feel like my stomach has turned inside out" And she wen't on to b*tch me out telling me she doesn't appreciate me waiting til 2 mins before I"m supposed to be there to call in, and that she was especially pissed that she had to work now for 11 days straight, this being her first day off in 11 days. and all this BS and how I shoulda called her.

So I'm gonna halve talk to the District Manager asap (whenver he calls me back) and explain to him, that when I'm sitting on the pot, performing an act similar to the Laxitive scene in 'Dumb and Dumber' Calling the Manager at home on her day off to let her know isn't the first thing on my mind. He's a really cool & understanding guy, but I'm sure he's gonna take her side on it.

It just totally pissed me off at her nerve to call me and 3rd degree me on "just how sick I was" She had no right to call me and yell at me like a 5 year old child. I admit, I shoulda tried calling her earlier, but I didn't think she'd appreciate me calling her on sunday morning on her day off either. Either way I was f*cked. Call her, get her pissed off, Don't call her, get her pissed off, or go to work and sh*t my pants all day.

It's not like I don't tough it out at work, when I'm sick either. I've had a sensitive stomach for as long as I can remember and I think I've called out sick from work 4 times in the last 5 years. 2 of which were becuase I had a 104 fever.

I hope the DM understands my position enough to not bow down & kiss the mall manager's a**. If I get written up for this, It may be time to find a new job. I'm not gonna work for a bunch of people who can't understand that on a rare occasion, My stomach is going to act up and I'm not gonna be able to work.

Well, we've been telling you, you look young. :)

SNL has solved your problem, you just need a pair of "OOPS, I crapped my pants!".

Sorry man, couldn't resist some fun.

I've been in your type of situation before, Except I was already at work!

Have you ever tried Pepto Bismol or Immodium advanced? That's what solved my problems (On 2 seperate occaisions).

I'm just glad the cashiers don't ask me why I am buying Air freshener, Immodium advanced, and a new pair of pants. Then I walk out the door, turn around and walk through the IN door, and walts into the bathrom. :)

LOL! I've got it...... I'll have my wife write me a note excusing me from work because I have explosive diahreah :)

Thanks for the compasion, guys!   This day offically has sucked.

General Lee - i've tried Immodium and it didn't help.  I'm gonna have my wife bring me some pepto & some 7up on her way home from work tonight.  Thanks for the suggestion

Larry - I did some research on IBS and the symptoms sound similar to mine.   I may go in and have a doctor check me out.

Torque, I'd be seeing a doctor about this, especially if it's getting more frequent or more severe.

My 2 cents.

As for that manager of yours - some people just don't get it!!

Good luck and get better!! :)

Some people can't tell the difference between a hard worker that really is sick and someone that gets "sick" every monday.

Although I am fortunate and do not have any stomach disorders, my wife was (incorrectly) diagnosed with Chrohn's Disease (one of her brothers has it).  And she has had a rough time the past few years.

Good luck with the DM!

I believe that is a good point, if less people would take advantage of saying their sick, then you could get a day off when you wanted it.

That really sux man. I was waiting for you to tell us what your doctor said. I can't believe you haven't seen him yet. :) Maybe then you'll be able to get a handle on this. Or, at least with a Dr's report, your DM will know how serious this is.

Sounds like your manager didn't want the responsibility of being a Mgr. that sometimes includes long hours. I think she just wanted Mgr. wages.

A couple of years ago I was having gut wrenching pain that had me doubleing over. When I said I was going to have to go to the emergency room. Everyone kept asking me "are you sure you just don't have to poop?" My whole family, everyone at the hospital including the lady who checked me in. You can imagine how mad I was getting. Then, when they did a sonogram the tech. said "I sure do see a lot of gas in here." I was thinking "OMG, I went to the ER for a poop pain. I'll never live this down". After the Doctor looked at the tests they took out my gallbladder right away. Whew. what a relief.

I was able to return the "poop" question to my wife back in Jan. when she went into labor. :)
