i have a 99 silverado with a 18 ft trailer and winch i need to have truck charging battery on trailer any help would be appreciated.

Is it a GMT400 or GMT800? If its a 800 do you have a trailer package? If so the wiring is there.

where do i look on truck to see which one it is?

Then it's a 800 and you need to put a 40 amp fuse in stud one on the fuse box to get positive power to your 7pin socket for your trailer.

thanks so much for your help. do i still need to run a ground for the battery for the trailer?

There's a ground in the 7pin also that will work.
