Had To Buy New Tires Today

Picked up some huge metal rod in the right front tire on my Sierra :( Now my wallet is 745 dollars lighter thanks to Discount Tire. I was hoping to make it until May or June, before getting new rubber, but that didn't happen.

I did talk them down 250 dollars from their origional price though :spam: Trying out some Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S tires, they get pretty good ratings on tirerack and on the drive home they were dead silent. My old Goodyear Wanglers where loud as shit. I wanted to stuff some 33's under her, but I didn't have a leveling kit on the front yet :spam:

Where exactly would 285/70/17's rub? When making sharp turns? Would I be able to make it until this weekend running that size until I get a leveling kit installed?

Thinking about seeing if I can have the tire shop swap out the tires.

They would rub if you turn the steering wheel more than halfway. You can drive your truck this way, but if you make a mistake espically going fast it will cost you a fender and a door.

We put new wheels on a dodge a month ago and had this problem. Just had to be careful and make a 10-point turn into the driveway lol. Its not really that bad for a couple days but you have to becareful and think about what you are doing when driving.

Now I just have to convince the tire shop to swap the tires out for free :( I only put 8 miles on them.

How long does it take to put a leveling kit on for someone that works on cars all the time?

dang dude i paid the same price for my 285/75/16 bighorns with free rotations and alignment...the yokohama geolanders that were on my truck before were quiet like you said, but not so good off road

The 285/70/17s are the same price as the 265/70/17s and it comes with all the free rotations, air pressure checks, free flat repair, ect...

I'm looking at the Rough Country leveling kit and they need to know if I have aluminium control arms. Why would one Sierra have aluminium and other have steel?

Not long at all for the RC kit. The second truck I did took me only 45 mins. There are a lot of threads on here telling you the shortcuts to doing one.

Look at the last post.

It's dark and raining outside, but they look like they are steel. I don't have a magnet laying around to be 100% sure.

You are correct. Steal rusts and aluminum will oxide and turns chalky.

Most everyone will have the steal control arms.

Coolness, just ordered the RC kit and will have it on Thursday. Tires will be swapped out on Friday, then it's off to get an Alignment.

Glad to hear you got to swap them. You'll love how much better the truck looks with the level and 285's. Just don't forget to post some pics when you're done! :dunno:

Since they are the same tires, just different sizes, I'll definitely get before and after pics. :dunno:
