Can someone tell me if i can retrofit my 04 with it. it didnt come factory. id like to have it, but i need to know if a dealer can do it or where to get parts and part numbers so i can do it myself.

i thought about that. but what i see in releases, i lose my auto dim/temp/compass mirror. and i like the bluetooth ithout having to change the stereo and cali is a hands free state

No,The factory On-Star system cannot be added/retrofitted.

 

But they are coming out with the system mentioned in the above link.

what features from OnStar in particular are you trying to get? auto crash response and stolen vehicle slowdown aren't applicable to your year truck. You would get a powerful phone with direct line to emergency help, but that's really about it.

i like the nav part of it. and with that mirror looks like a lot of fearures but i really dont want to lose the features in my mirror.

Actually pretty soon best buy will be carrying a onstar kit. So any vehicle will be able to have the service in it. Dont know anything about price or the procedure. Saw it on tv.

yea we discussed that. but i wish it came ith a mirror similar to my factory. kinda like the onstar mirror in the gmt-800

We Did last December, and the only time the OnStar went off was when my Aunt (Who was Housesitting for us) called the truck in Oklahoma City to ask us something. (I was actually driving!)

wow... thats quite a story. i dont have anything against onstar, just dont really want to pay for it. i have 2 cell phones handy in my truck and theres almost always someone on the CB so i feel pretty safe.
