Torque Specs for Spark Plugs

Does anyone know how tightly you should torque spark plugs in an 8.1L?  I want to change mine now that I put Top End Cleaner in it, and I can't find a spec anywhere.

Thanks-Fitz

The old torque spec. was 15 ft. lbs. in the cast iron heads with the taper seat type sparkplugs.  I don't know the spec. for the aluminum heads.  I would assume it will be less than the cast iron.

2002 Silverado/Sierra Service Manual

Spark Plug Fastener Tightening Specifications

8.1 15lb ft

4.8/5.3/6.0 11lb ft

4.3 new heads 22lb ft

    used heads 11lb ft

Not to preach, but if anyone wants to do more than an oil change on their truck, they should invest in a service manual set.  Helm Inc.  5 manual set (2002 anyways) $120 part number GMT02CK8PU

Better yet, get it on CD rom.

Or you could always just screw them in hands tightness and then throw a 1/4 turn on it with a socket......it's just a spark plug.
