Truck Overheated. Need Advice

Hello everyone.

 

First of all, I hope I've posted this in the correct section. Forgive me If I haven't. I'm ok with it being moved to its correct forum section if need be.

 

Anyways, I own a 2001 Chevy Silverado. This car has been great to me since I purchased it used from a buddy just over a year ago. It's fulfilled its job quite well, while sparing me any headache. However, just yesterday my car overheated on me. When I got home I inspected its radiator and found that this part was to blame. It showed signs of leakage and a majority of the fins were severely bent. I know that replacement is my only option at this point, but before I do so, I'd like some advice. I've decided to purchase an aftermarket version online, but don't know which companies are reputable. I've found two that I particularly like but before I buy from one of them, I'd like some sort of verification that they are a legitimate business. I almost never buy anything online so I don't know how to spot a scam, and I can't afford to be scammed.

 

Has anyone dealt with either of the following companies and can verify that they are a legitimate company? Thanks in advance.

i'd be very cautious of buying a radiator and having it shipped... i can only imagine how it would look after UPS or Fedex gets through with it... you think you have bent fins now... just wait till you see the box sitting on your doorstep half smashed!

I needed a new radiator for my Mazda 626 V6 several years ago. I ordered one online and it arrived undamaged, but it did not fit right. It had an extra capped fitting which interfered with the air intake duct. I sent the radiator back and then bought one from AutoZone. they had about 4 different ones, I picked one with life time warranty (second best they had). It fit perfectly and has been trouble free for the past 100k miles or so. It is a brand name radiator and if it leaks, they will simply give me a new one. A lot better alternative than trying to make that claim with an online company and pay to ship the defective radiator to them.

 

Just do not get the cheapest radiator they sell. those are probably not very good. But their upper end products are getting much better.

there used to be a place called Radiator Barn on the web, search for them, very reputable.

Do you live in the middle of nowhere or something? Why not just go to O'reilly's or Napa and pick one up? The prices are competative and you get it TODAY with a warranty. And, if it's not the right one, just take it back and get another one. Just wondering.
