Question About Flashing Gmt-900 Computer?

Going tomorrow to have a friend flash my computer back to stock. I was wondering if the dealership will be able to tell if the computer has been tuned and then flashed over? Thanks for any help.

Some say yes.. others say no... I suppose it's a gamble, whats wrong that your flashing it back to stock and your worried they will know  You assume that risk when you tune...

Yeah I know, I just did not expect it to use oil and now I have a tapping noise when it revs up. It ran low of oil, no oil light but low of oil one night and the oil pressure gauge was bouncing from 0 to 40 and now it has a tapping noise. And the flash is going to be done with a tech two.

Most likely you won't have an issue,... but be prepared

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks hope it does go well. The guy doing to flash works for a chevy dealership and said it will be ok. Just did not know if anyone else has done it.

That's the sole reason I don't have a tune. I want to know how it works out. (tracking this thread)

the only way they will be able to tell is if you flashed it back to stock literally while the truck is sitting in the dealer's service bay. because the truck hasn't gone through it's normal emissions and systems checks that could take up to 100 miles before the computer checks them. since that is the case, those system checks will read "null" when the dealer runs a computer diagnostic test. but most service techs won't even notice. just flash it to stock a few days before you go into the dealer and you'll be okay.

some of the checks i am talking about are like a catalytic converter efficiency test.... one of the codes your car will have after about 50-100 miles of driving with headers, high flow or no cats, and no tune.

Well the mechanic is a friend of mine and he asked me to drive it around a little then bring it back so gm does not screw them for the work he has already done. He did the lifters b/c it matched all the symptoms of the lifters and now thats not the case. Have to take it back anyways for drive shaft repair and seat repair and they will tear down bottom end to find problem.

When my transmission broke in Dec 2009, I flashed it back to stock and no problem. They figured out wat was wrong with it and they fixed the transmission. They didn't mention anything of the V-Max having an aftermarket tune. After they fixed it, I added back the Black Bear Tune and its been good since. I also added a Corvette Servo and a shift kit to the transmission after they fixed and its been running great.

Well the truck is fixed. It ended up being the #1 and #6 rod bearing. All fixed under warranty. I really mis the tune but it will be a while before I get it back. Going to order the autocall so I can swap back and forth.
