I called about a post on some 285/70/17 nitto terra grapplers that only have 500 miles on them, but they are 10ply or the heavy duty ones. Are these too heavy for a 06 gmc sierra 1500 2wd? I do not do any towing.

They will wear really nice and be stable. I would do it if it were me.

They will ride rough and you will lose 2-3 MPG's. Those are heavy tires.

They will ride a bit stiffer, but I would say 2-3 mpg is a long shot. You might be looking at 1 maybe 2, but IMO that would really be pushing it unless your're coming off of some tiny P rated tires.
