I'm looking tires but can't decide on size. I know yall are getting tired of my posting questions. i've got the stock 245/75/16. I'm wondering about gas mileage. I think my current oem tires weighs 44 lbs. The BFG 265 weighs 54 lbs and the BFG 285 weighs 59 lbs (D load)

 

Right now I get 12MPG around town(where most of my driving is). Can I say that with 265 I will get 11MPG and the 285 10MPG?

Davidb: I am in the same boat, I am just wondering how much mpg I will lose going from a p265/70/17 to a 285. When I first got my truck i had stock 245's on it and to be honest I just put gas in the darn thing and never checked my mpg. But when my parents bought my first set of tires they put on 265/70/17, and I cant say it hurt mpg (because I never checked it), but with this tire (265) I check it regularly and im not sure about city but i get 17-18+ highway, so city mpg is not to far behind im guessing.

 

I have a 2006 GMC sierra 1500 SLE ext. cab, 2wd.
