I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD. I currently have 245 Firestone Transforce on it now. I am looking into buying new tires. I like the Nitto Terra grappler. I want a 265 75 R16 or a 285 75 R16. Which one should i go with? I do not have any lift except cranking up the front keys. How much of a difference should I experience in MPH and gearing? I do not want something to large that it rubs either. I would like any help offered.

If you are running factory wheels, they are only 6.5" wide, either alloy or steel.

I've tried running 285's on them (knowing they are too big for a 6.5" wheel) and fought center tire wear and poor handling. They also rubbed a bit at full lock but not enough to worry about.

They are actually even too narrow for 265's, they spec a 7.0-8.5 wheel, but they work fine in terms of handling and wear.

So the 265 will work?

yes, most (all?) manufacturers spec a 7" wheel but I've ran 265's on a factory 6.5 wheel and had absolutely not wear or handling issues.
