Power Side View Mirrors

Okay, took truck to car wash....I power folded the mirrors inward to prevent damage....little did I know that would backfire. Truck makes it through carwash unscathed. The towel guys go to work. The guy on the driver side decides he will be nice and fold out the mirrors...when one hand doesn't budge it, he two hands it and jerks it one click out with what looked like all his might...by this time he finally hears me yelling to stop (Couldn't hear because the blower was running). I informed him that they are power mirrors and all he had to was push the button...well suffice it to say, the driver's side mirror folds in to all but one click, about an inch from where the other one folds in.

I could easily use force to push it back in, but I don't want to damage/further damage the mirror. Does anyone know or have the unassemble/assemble instructions for the power adjust/power fold/turn signal side view mirrors. Secondly, does anyone know if I can make an adjustment once I have unassembled or is good olde fashion brute force the best solution here...???

Thanks in advance!!!

to reset the mirrors, as stated in the manual, press the fold, allow to fold, then unfold and allow it to unfold, it should reset itself within two cycles

from the owners manual:

Resetting the Power Foldaway Mirrors

Reset the power foldaway mirrors if:

. The mirrors are accidentally obstructed while

folding.

. They are accidentally manually folded/unfolded.

. The mirrors will not stay in the unfolded position.

. The mirrors vibrate at normal driving speeds.

Fold and unfold the mirrors one time using the mirror

controls to reset them to their normal position.

A popping noise may be heard during the resetting of

the power foldaway mirrors. This sound is normal after

a manual folding operation.

The thing I read and the instructions that did not work...I am sorry I failed to mention that...thanks for the enthusiasm to point out my error.

was just offering you the first step in trouble shooting it..

next would be to either force it back to where it belongs or have it replaced (at the expense of the car wash)..

Very much appreciated!!! My response was to someone whom was not being helpful, but, well, just not nice :-)

I forced it last night when I was feeling adventurous. It went in a little...not all the way. I think i will leave it alone...But if anyone does has the unassemble/assembly instructions, or can pull, that would be great!!! Thanks again for your input.

I'd be back at that car wash getting a new mirror from them..

It might be a simple repair as long as nothing is damaged...I think he just forwarded the the alignment of the gears that roate the mirror in and out...If damaged, you bet I will...one step at a time :uhoh:

Ok I will try and be helpful, sorry as my comment was made to be humorous as most people do not read owners manuals (myself included). I used the search feature and found this thread. Rich posted some good info here, might help?
