Transfer case fluid

I recently changed the transfer case fluid to the new Autotrak II. When I drained the old fluid (red) out there were a substantial amount of metal shavings. Is this normal?

Also, does anyone have any opinions on Lucas Oil products.

id say the metal shavings are ok.  I changed my front diff fluid at 31K and i had metal shavings on the drain plug.

Some metal filings are to be expected due to manufacturing, thus why doing the fluid changes earlier than the suggested interval isn't a bad thing.  A lot of guys do their first oil change at 1500 or earlier for this reason.
