Stock alternator output

OK, can somebody tell me what the stock alternator output is on a 99 Silverado?  Mine is starting to make some pretty neat noises.  Does that usually denote that the alternator is going bad?  Im also having some wired noise resonating up from underneath the dash.  I think I saw a post a while back about some guy stuffing some foam around the steering column where it runs thorugh the firewall.  May give that a shot.

Well, Sorry I can't tell you what wattagee youshould be getting, but I can tell you this.

The only way I could tell the Alt is going bad is when my mom used to end up getting dead batteries once every month.

I might be wrong, so don't listen to me right off the bat.

What kinda noise is it making? Squeaking noises or something else?

Squeaks usually mean something's wrong with the belt (or A belt), Could be worn, could be off it's positioning a little (COULD be, not sayng it is).

But then again, it could be one of a number of other different things....

The easiest way to check your altenator without removing it is if you have a volt meter check your battery voltage then crank the truck and check it again, you should get about 13.5 VDC with the truck running, ofcourse this will not tell you that the bearings are about to fail but will let you know if it is charging or not.........Gun
