Service Air Bag Light On

Good evening. Yesterday I went to get into my truck and I noticed that the service air bag light popped up out of nowhere. The truck has been sitting for the past 4 days relaxing from a car show where I had no issues or lights that came on. I already did some Google searches and I am trying to rule out as much as possible.

Ø I have disconnected the negative battery terminal for 15 mins and went back and the light came on.

Ø I sat the passenger seat to see if the ON star light would come on for the passenger air bag and that did so I think that side is ok.

Ø I moved the seat up and noticed that there was a connection behind the seat. Disconnected and reconnected it and the service light is still on.

Are there any other suggestions or places I can look to try and fix this before having to take this in. Thank you for your help.

i replaced the steering wheel in my 2010 with one that had steering wheel controls and my airbag light came on. i had to take it to the dealer for them to diagnose the problem. turned out i broke the clockspring when removing/installing the wheel. luckily it was covered under warranty.

it sounds like you have ruled out everything except the actual airbags and steering column. the only way to know for sure is to fork out the money for the dealership to check the trouble code with a Tech2 device, normal scanners from the parts store only diagnose engine/tranny codes!

common problem for the connectors under the seat to not "seat" completely/properly. my 05 denali did it randomly with the passenger seat when moving the seat forward/backward...may try to work with the air bag connectors under the seats, but i was told to NEVER unplug them completely as it is posible one can activate the air bags accidentally.

On my 04 one of the wires to the sensor under the seat actually broke off because of moving the seat back and forth. I was able to put a new connection on the existing wire and it has been fine since. I just don't move the seat anymore.
