my recently aquired 1988 gmc 1500 seems to have a couple issues, first off when you turn or sometimes when you first step on the gas it will kind of jerk/lock up or hesitate kinda jumpy like. and today when on the highway i noticed it started to kind of make a winding or humming noise when on the gas at higher speeds say past 40-50km or so. the previous owner fixed it up a bit and did things like bigger injectors he said, to the 350 tbi and a "built 700r4" also if anyone has some more details on what they typically upgrade on a built trans. sorry im pretty new and learning as i go. also the steering column is really loose and you have to move it a certain way for the key. i dont know if that has any thing to do with the problem/s.

humming noise is probably the rear going out.i would say a built 700r4 means kelvar bands,shift,.500 boost valve, corvette servo, couple of other things. If its built youll feel when it shifts if its built with a shift and vette servo it should chirp 2nd,bigger injectors for what?if its stock motor you dont need anything bigger then 350 injectors.people doing stupid stuff like this is pointless adding 454 injectors is really flooding the motor i see ppl doing that with mild cams, different heads and such. Most of the people that do 454 injector swap add a injector pod spacer because of the amount fuel it delivers.fuel/air ratio.

that is quite possible, as i heard a lot of bad stories of rear ends blowing out from doing a lincoln locker. haha.

i would like to find out more about the whole injectors that was supposibly upgraded or what ever. but dont know what to look for to tell what was done.

as for the trans i do notice when it shifts a little more then your average truck nothing alarming i checked all fluids and such all is well.

on a side note i do notice it smell like the engine is burning a little rich

The engine is probably rich considering its getting more fuel then the motor needs.I know ppl running tbi383s and 454 injectors still run rich.Ppl think that by feeding the motor more fuel will help not always sometimes it could make a pig and just fall on it face. Now the 454 TB is a different story they flow ALOT of air and you can easily get 5hp+ even more considering your mods already. But you can port and polish your 350 TB to 2" bores or 46,48,50mm bores and can flow equal or even more then the 454 TB.plus you save about 140 bucks
