Got fellow employees that do stupid things?

Post it here..

mine for today, Not 1 but 7 people emailed me to tell me that the email server was down last week.....

no phone calls, no getting off their fat ass and walking to my office, they all sent me an email to inform me the email server was offline..

then over 2 hours later came to bitch at me because I had not fixed it yet.. and to tell me they sent me an email on it and why didn't I reply..

for the record I already knew the server was offline and fixed the issue within about 3 minutes, however it required them to restart their email client to reconnect, there was a post put on the Intranet webpage about it, and a global "Page" over the phone system..

Today's funny:

Last week we installed a VoIP phone in the house of an employee that is going to be working from home..

it's a nice little toy, we have a VoIP system in-house, so we program one of the VoIP phones with the external IP settings, he plugs it into his home network/cable modem router and bingo, he has an internal extension at his house, and can make/receive calls as if he was sitting in the office.

I drove out to his house and set it all up, everything was working fine, and has been for the past week..

This morning he called me from that phone via inter-office extension to complain that the phone wasn't working, and that he could not hear the person on the other end..

I attempted to explain that if this was true how was he talking to me, but he insisted that the phone was not working correctly and he could not hear anyone else and that it only worked because it was me on the other end and if anyone else picked up it would not work.

He continued to tell me that he believes I am possessed because whenever he has an issue with an electronic device it works fine for me, but then 5 minutes later it doesn't work for him again.

I've tried explaining to him it's a simple problem known as PICNIC, but he doesn't agree.

PICNIC = Problem in Chair, Not in Computer.

Haha... some people. I could go on for hours about my co-workers. I work for the railroad and i am on call all the time and same with my neighboring maintainer unless we mark off. Well he met a girl and for the past 9 months has been gone just about every weekend and leaves me and or foreman to take care of his bull shit because during the week he doesn't do crap either. So needless to say i am sick of his stupidity and not taking his job serious especially cause we deal with the safety of the public and fellow employees. And thats just one of many issues i have with him and i won't even get started on the guy that works on the other side of me.

Had a co worker maybe 10 years ago that was always messing with me (and others)... It was getting to the point I dreaded going to the office if he was going to be in (loud and obnoxious, even when he was not messing with things).

I had enough one day and noticed he had "shared" his "c drive" on his laptop computer. I quickly wrote a simple bat file and put it in his startup file. All it did was run a long directory listing to a file (appending, not replacing). Each day, that file grew larger and since it was named something clever to appear as system file, he did not suspect it. As he starting running out of disk space, he would clean up his hard drive and remove programs, then it would fill up again, he would remove something else.

I laughed to myself everyday and enjoyed going to the office, even if he was loud and obnoxious. Then when he had deleted almost everything, I told him what I did and if he ever messed with me again, I would cause him many more problems. technology is your friend or enemy (I was also the network focal for the office and could have caused him other problems, but the bat file was easy). He is still obnoxious but has not bothered me since.
