2005 Silverado Electrical Problem

Recommended Posts

2005 2500HD RCLB 6.0l 4 speed. Recently my brothers truck lost it's turn signals and dash indicator. I tested the fuses and have no power to them. I tried a new multi-switch and flasher relay and still nothing. The 4-ways work fine along with the high beam switch, windshield wipers and cruise control. Nothing new has been added in a while. The only aftermaket thing ever put on it was an Autopage remote start about two years ago and it works fine also. I just can't figure out why I lost all power to the fuses for the left and right signals. If I put a jumper from the battery to the fuse the dash indicator and front and rear turn signal come on but no flash and stay on reguardless of the switch postion.

Any help or ideas would be great!!

You may have already figured this out but I will throw my 2 pennies at it while we wait for the smart people to ring in. I found this schematic on line that said it was for a 2005 Silverado but not sure if its true so take it with a grain of salt.

  • It sounds as if everything on the light side of the relay is good (from the relay out to lights). The fact that you put 12V on the fuse proves that circuit.
  • Your four ways are working but they have power to them all the time and they use the same circuitry as the signals. That leads me to believe that your relay is good and the bulk of the circuitry is good, plus you tried a new relay so that takes that out of play.
  • I would think that the issue is that your signal circuit is not getting power to it on the activation side of the circuit between the signal on the column and your relay. A bad ground, a dirty or corroded connection or perhaps something in the ignition.
  • I am not sure if there is a module that can be swapped out where all the circuits flow through

I've had issues with my ignition or what seemed like it where a number of things didn't work when I had the truck started, moved the key back and forth and it was all good. When that happened it was more than just the signals..

When you do get it working could you post us the fix. Cheers
