just got a pick-up truck. . . .my first one, my first american made vehicule. . . . .

drove it into a puddle of mud to try my new MT a couple times, had lot of fun, spinning wheels in the mud :) , now my transmission wont shift in 2nd speed.

'' transmission hot '' light came out in the dash and i let it cool for 20mn or so, i'll have to change the oil thats for sure, but the major problem is that 2nd speed wont shift.

1st gear is ok, rev it up to 3500rpm and it shift in 3rd gear when i depress the gas pedal. it doesnt even try to shift on 2nd. no chek engine or nothing appears, my innova scanner tells me theres nothing but i am not sure if it can take transmission dtc.

truck was FULL of mud, spent a day cleaning it and its not finished yet.

anyone have ever experienced that kind of problems ?

anyone know whhat kind of modificationos peoples are doing with those trucks when they go offroading ?

troubleshooting done tonight

rebuild is on its way

i chose the extra heavy duty options, it will be an awesome tranny.

the price goes with it as well.

from now on, no more mudding. wayyyyy too expensive.

i know a litle bit what will be in the tranny

basicly, i broke one of the shells

whats coming is that bad-ass transmission is extra heavy duty, almost unbreakable shells, selected the heavy duty clutches packs as well and they are suposed to shift a little harder, just enough so it feels like a sportcar :flag:

carriers ans all gears are suposed to be heavy duty as well as the torque converter.

i keep the same gear ratio, it was perfect for me. thats a real custom tranny that will be in my silverado by the weekend. cant wait to go for a ride

budddy of mine is boss in a shop, he's getting the rebuild from a place downtown edmonton. dont know the name, its suposed to be a good place and i know for sure if they were not he would have never accepted to touch my truck. i'm that kind of psycho who truly believe that perfection is not an option when comes time to fix my toys.

now, since i know i'll be doing a lot of mud again an again, i need a course.

mudding and going in trails 101 for chevy owners.

what to do, what not to do ?

now i know, spining whells WILL kill my transmission. however, if i am stuck, or if i have to pass thru a puddle, what should i do ?

what is the recommandation when I KNOW just by lokking at it that my badass mud-tires will spin ? ?

what should i do if i have to cross a little creek ? whats the deepest i can go while being safe for thhe truck. no lift kit on that beast yet.

just got my truck back.

the damn thing was expensive but i love it. speed shift quick and nice, no slipping at all, little rough but i wanted it that way.

i have to take care of it now, dont wana spend more money on repairs.

2 weeks of gay driving before i can go wild again with that redneck truck. cant wait to go offroading again :)

195000 miles on mine same trans and i take it in mud and water all the time i never even clean it because it just gets muddy again. offroading wont kill your transimission just remember to not keep your motor revved up for a long time and spinning the wheels is perfectly fine

as far as mods all you really need is a tow strap a hitch ball and maybe a winch if you ever go buy yourself

concerning the muds, i was going for:

leveling kit, truck is higher in the back a nd i dont like that look. its just apearance.

wheel shim kit, i'd lie to give them 1.5'' or 2'', again its apearance but it will be more stable as well.

transmission mods id done and i love that, it goes very well.

i'll find a t-case and rebuild it, it will be my spare t-case just in case something happen.

for the mud part, i'll make sure next time i recon the mudhole, if possible get in there pretty fast and hope i will not need to spin tires. if not possible, a winch will be installed and a 20' tow strap will be carried out there as well. just in case shit happen.

Your transfer case should be fine unless you put some big ass tires on like a 37 or 38 inch tire and then wheel the ever living hell out of it

Definitely recon the mud hole carry a stick or something to check the depth.Looks can be real deceiving. My room mate sunk his truck so bad to where water was running in because he did not know that the mud hole had a steep drop off and was unlevel. And then i sunk my truck in it and then my other room mate sunk his truck in it.

Got any pics of your truck?

The best thing that you can do for that new trans is to be sure that you have a decent trans cooler. Quick, easy & cheap (under $100)
