Hey guys:

I am a noob to trucks but not a noob when it comes to offset..

I know my offsets for great fitments on my 240sx..

but heres the thing.. my old man is looking for some rims to accomodate his 33x12.5x17 that he just bought. He has a 2005 sierra z71 with a 3inch leveling kit and a 3 inch body lift.. He has the oem fender flares. ANyone who has seen this truck know it lacks an aggressive stance.. he wants the tire to petrude the body about a quarter of the tire in the front and about an eight in the back.

He wants to run 17x8 or 17 x9... daytona style rim. ( basically a steelie)

My questions is what kind of offset should i be looking at to pull these suckers out..

I ve searched a bit and have come up with very little fitment information for this year of production.. I have only gathered in for the older generations from which i have been told arent the same. \

And a little side questions..

if the truck has the 4.10 diff am i stressing the drivetrain with 35's? i;ve found some mixed opinions.. anyone run this gearing for a while and not have problems... what about the smaller gearing .. the 3.73 or what ever it is... that would be for my friend with his shortcab 1500 same year..

For a GMT-800 (2005) if you get an 8" wheel with 4.5" of backspacing the tire will sit flush with the top of the fender. If you want the tire to pertrude, then go with a 9" wide wheel. As far as the gears go, 4.10's are a perfect gear for 35" tires for both mileage and power. If you want more power then 4.56's are awesome. The 4.56's will make the truck feel near stock with 35" tires. :)

And Welcome!

thanks for the warm reception!!.

Just a few quick questions:

Will 35x12.5x17 fit with a 3 inch body lift and 2 inch leveling kit without trimming? IF trimming is needed how much do is needed?

So a 9 inch rim with 4.5 inches of backspacing will get me to stick out? Off the top of your head how much would you guess it would stick out passed the fender flares? I wasnt sure if you meant tip of fender with or without oem fender flares?

thanks
