Gmx550 Lockpick And Backup Camera

I have a 2007 Chevy 2500HD LTZ with the factory nav system. I recieved my new GMX550 and license plate mount camera, both ordered from Coastaletech. The install went fairly smooth, got everything wired up according to the instructions from Coastal. But I can't get the back up camera to work, I can't get it to come on (if it does come on it doesn't display on the screen) in either automatic or manual. Has anyone run into something like this? Any help would be appreciated. I've already re-installed it just to make sure all the connections were made correctly.

yup I have the same issue, the blue wire on the GMX doesn't send consistant power, only a trigger, and it seems to time out after 10 - 15 seconds.. The camera needs constant power not a trigger.

 

 

your install @ the camera is different that mine though, I guess GM moved the power wire for the camera from under tha passenger seat to the BCM under the dash, I always thought it was that change that was my issue, so now I know it is the unit, I've had the unit replaced twice thinking it was the unit, guess I was right.. I ended up running my only power wire and switch to the factory camera so if I need it I have to press the window lock button 4 times AND flip my rocker switch on. (can't leave it on, else I don't get an image in reverse)

Well, I just spoke with a rep from Coastal E Tech, and he pointed out that I need to have my radio flashed to allow use of a camera since I don't have a factory cam. Apparently, I didn't dig through the site enough. Well, once I get this done I guess we'll see if my cam will work.

that is amazing you actually got through to Coastaletech -- I have been calling for about 3 weeks now and to no avail no information nothing....how does a business actually stay in business with out customer support lol
