2010 Nnbs Ssteering Wheel Controls

I'd like to change my present steering wheel on my 2010 Silverado 1500, which has cruise control, to a wheel with cruise and radio controls. i email GMPartsDirect, they say there is no factory wheel for my application. I have done numerous searches and come up with a couple part numbers, none that specifically refers to my 2010. I know folks have done this swap, can anyone give me the correct part number I need? Thanks.

I think most people including myself buy the wheels off eBay. All you need is one with radio controls.

When I did mine I kept my factory leather wheel and added the radio/cruise controls from the wheel I bought. I also painted the trim pieces since they were pealing. So the only thing I used from the wheel I bought was the buttons and nothing else.

This huge thread should tell you everything you need to know and then some. I changed the steering wheel on my '09 LS and everything was plug and play, had no problems whatsover.

I see you can purchase the audio controls right from GM. They are past number 15819311. Has anyone done this and just added them to there existing wheel? A heck of alot cheaper than a new wheel.

Where did you get your wheel? Part number? Thanks.

I believe the part# is 15917931. Mine was a take off from Schram Auto Parts on eBay, but they post them here occasionally also. Mine looked brand new when I got it.

Kyle, when I put this part number into GMPartsDirect, they say this wheel will not fit my 2010. Are you sure of the number? Thanks.

Try these part numbers:

25853070 - Ebony wheel with silver spoke trim.

25853068 - Ebony wheel with ebony spoke trim.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the numbers. GMPartsDirect just says that these numbers are not for my truck (a 2010 Silverado 1500) and will not give me an answer if these numbers are even the part that I want. WTF? Has anybody done this swap with a '09 or '10 that give a true part number. I doubt that if I order a wheel from them that they would take it back if I screwed it up.

Here's my stock 2009 GMC Sierra:

Here's what I got from Schram"s and it works as advertized:

Schram"s Auto Parts is a forum sponsor. Check with them to see if any are available. Much cheaper than the dealership. email [email protected] or call 1-800-292-1032 EXT 2167 and ask for Blake.

If you put your VIN in at GMPartsDirect, it should say that the wheel with audio controls is not for your vehicle, because it's not one of your listed options. It will work, though.

Just checked, I'm absolutely 100% sure that was the part# I bought. Sorry. I would have replied earlier but I've been out of town all week.

If you have any doubts, contact Schram either directly or through PM here. They're a forum sponsor, reputable, and quick to reply to inquiries.

    • I ordered the Snap On...waiting for it to come in later this week or early next week.   New front cover, new crank seal and new balancer are on. Water pump, pulley, fan, hoses, and plastics reinstalled. I can move forward knowing all my timing marks are dead on and the front engine is hopefully sealed better than it was. Take 2 with the water pump...trying high temp thread sealer on the lower bolts.   Rebuilt injector and new-new regulator is in, it looks like new. Top intake reassembled and all the bits are reconnected and snugged down.   Thinking about knock sensors again, I located both of mine and, there's your problem, Francis... The driver's side one is broke, plastic is bashed in, part of the wire is bare, and it appears to have been damaged like that for a long time. I saw the wire but didn't think anything of it. The knock sensor might not be my pulled timing issue, but it sure looks suspect. It must still be conducting, otherwise I'd expect a CEL. But perhaps with its sacred crystal inside exposed, jilted and dirty, maybe it's sending mixed signals. So I'm waiting for one of those and a new pigtail to come in. Pass side sensor looks good, except for the spark plug wire resting on it (!). The plug wires are healthy so it shouldn't be causing an issue, but I separated them and added zip ties to nearby looms to keep everything well apart.   So, I'm down to installing a knock sensor AND, oh, replacing the exhaust and cat. I actually think that's going to be fairly easy, it's all bolt-together, all new stuff from Walker is laid out on the shop floor ready to go. Hopefully have this thing on the road again for the weekend.   My luck? It will still be leaking oil, coolant, pulled timing, intermittent CEL for running rich, or it probably won't run at all -- because that's how this project has gone.   I've never worked on a vehicle so ...hurt? ...cursed? in my life. Everything has been effed with SO HARD, but I think...knock on wood...I've managed to undo all the backyard stuff and we're almost reset back to "just" an 80k mile, 30 year old Blazer.
    • Yes. You need to check out that thing, and the hub further.
    • Would this be normal or a worn CV Shaft? 51K miles 3.5" lift? Boots are intact and no visible leaks showing. Attached is a the video I took. Thanks     https://youtu.be/ZnW7PPRmjJY?feature=shared
    • If everything checks out at the MAF, then the MAF is BAD, new or not.   You don't need a signal generator to troubleshoot this. PCM needs ALL powers and ALL grounds able to light a halogen headlight bulb - if it can light the bulb bright, then the wiring is good enough to run the PCM.   Best thing you can do for yourself is spend some time here: scannerdanner.com - Check out all his YouTube videos on similar issues. If you decide to subscribe it's the best bang-for-buck ratio in the automotive world, hands-down. He's got TONS of free vids on YouTube, too.
