Canopy For Silverado

Recommended Posts

Thinking of getting a canopy for my 2006 Z71 Silvy. Any suggestions on brand or style.

Saw a truck with the door the opened fully from the back the other day. Thought it looked cool.

Help and guidance on type fiberglass or aluminum, name, what holds up best, easy on-off if needed etc...

Do they really save on gas or is that hype?

Thanks

I have a LEER on my truck, very pleased with it. It removes easily, just loosen 6 clamps and lift it off.

I've always been a big fan of A.R.E Z-Series but Leer has always been a great canopy too

I've got a Leer 100XQ and it's great. Four built in clamps hold it on. Can't really comment on whether it helps mileage or not as I only had the truck for less than a week before I got the cap, but I doubt it adds much if any fuel economy. It's great for keeping your stuff dry and going camping etc...down side is you lose the ability of putting anything tall or oversized in your bed without removing it.

As for type/style its whatever fits your needs and tastes. I wanted a nice clean looking one without the aluminum frames for the windows so I went with the 100XQ. I also got the roof rack built in so I can put my boat or canoe on the roof. Works great, and a nice thing about mine is when you open the rear glass it doesn't lift higher than the roof line, whereas some allow the rear glass to hinge way above the roofline of the truck.
