'88 K2500 Rear Differential Cover Gasket

I'm trying to identify the differential in this vehicle to be able to purchase a cover gasket. There does not seem to be any identification numbers on the axle tubes or the housing. The filler plug is on the side of the housing. No drain plug.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like the 14 bolt, 9.5" ring gear, semi-floating axle diff that all '88 K2500's should have had. Then again, the diesel and big block trucks could have had the 14 bolt, 10.5" ring gear, full floating axle as well, if memory serves me

correctly.

Why not use gasketmaker and save yourself the headache of a gasket?? Easiest way to tell since yours is a 2500, 6 lugs, semi floating 12bolt, 8 lugs, full floating 12bolt.

There never was a rear axle, that year, with a 12 bolt cover. They were both 14 bolt either semi-floating axles or full floating axles.
