Rattling In The Dash

I just bought a 2005 Silverado Ext Cab 5.3 and noticed there is a little rattling in the dash, which i noticed on other silverados that i test drove. Is this common with silverados? It sounds like a plastic piece, maybe something needs tightened. Im not sure

I recently traded in an 07 classic crew cab that had the same problem. The only time it would rattle was going down a rough road, but it would drive me nuts. After a long time of looking for it( kind of hard to do while your driving) I was looking around underneath the dash and it just so happens theres some kind of light blue round thing that goes around the steering column that I started messing with and it made a similar noise to that rattle that I was hearing. For a quick fix to see if thats where it was coming from I tied a piece of baling wire to it and tied it off to the side with a little tension on it. I jumped in the truck and took it for a ride down some pretty rough roads and didnt hear anything. Problem solved. I recently traded it in for an 11 Silverado LT Crew cab which is a hell of alot nicer truck and thankfully it doesnt have any rattles.....yet.

i had the same exact noise in my truck for a while when i first got it. i hit i really big pothole and it went away

Thanks, I will check is there is blue ring underneath the dash later and hopefully that will fix it. Where I live I may be able to hit a huge pothole lol
