How To Tell If Truck Has A Leveling Kit?

well without sounding like an ass... is it level?

the front of the GM trucks is lower giving the truck a raked look, you can definitely tell from 6 feet away if the truck's front is lower than the rear..

the other way is to look at the shocks lower and upper mount and see if there is any kind of spacer between the shock and the shock mount, OEM the shock rests on the mount not on a spacer..

this is a picture of a lower shock spacer (blue piece, though your could be any color/material depending on brand)

If the trucks a GMT-900 (current body style) then the above photo shows the most common leveling kit. There are others that have spacers on top of the front struts as well as below. If the trucks a GMT-800 (classic), then it would take re-indexed torsion keys to achieve the desired lift.

In most cases, the GMT-800's with a little cranking on the stick torsion keys can fit a 285. On the Current body style, 285's won't fit without some sort of leveling kit.

Also, as mentioned, measure the center of the fenders front and rear to see how close they are. IF they are close, then most likely you have a leveling kit or even stock keys cranked.
