yfzrider Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I put after market wheels and tires on my truck, its a 2010 silverado, and now the low tire light comes on. Anyway I can reset this my self or do I need to take it to the dealer?
old-chevy-dude Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 did you have the TPMS sensors installed in the aftermarket wheels? if not then the light won't go away.. if you did and it's a matter of relearning, there are instructions in your owners manual on how to do it.
Big Whiskey Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 You may have to take it to the dealer so they can program the "magic number" for PSI. Your new tires are probably load range E (10 ply), while your stockers were P rated (4 ply). Max pressure on the stockers was 44 PSI, while max pressure on the new meats is 80 PSI. The air pressure light may be on because the computer thinks there's too much air in the new tires. There's a certain range of PSI from the factory, and it will trigger the light if it's too high or too low.
