4wd switch bad

Well today my mom told me she had her truck in auto 4wd (it was snowing).  She went to put it in 2wd and it wouldnt go into 2wd.  Then her service 4wd light came on.  She came home parked it.  My dad went out backed it out of the garage hit the 2wd button it went back into 2wd.  He switched it back into 4wd and back into 2 with no problems.  Service 4wd light is gone.  Truck is (00 Blazer autotrac) 2 months out of warranty (less than 25K miles).  

 

I guess my question is how hard is the switch to replace?  Plug and play?  Also anyone know a part number for it?

I don't have the PN for you Ryan, but I'd bet it's plug and play, just like the Silverado's.  Maybe Partzoneonline or GMpartsdirect can give you a PN.

I think this might be the part number. I had to replace mine, I have a 00 GMC Sierra 1500. I think it would be the same PN.

Bill the blazers autotrac switch is slightly different.  it isnt the straight up and down piece.  Its kind of oval shaped

ryan, before you buy that the dealer may goahead and replace that for her even though its out of warranty. it is a common problem and GM most likely will honor it. i just had mine replaced the part was around $32.00.
