1981 C10 Inside Dash Wiring Issue

Ok we have a 1981 C10 with a 1986 305. The problem I have is that the turn signals are not flasing. They come on when I turn the lights on but when I hit the turn signal they do nothing. Also when I hit the turn signal it turns off my gauge lights.

Let me give you a little back ground also. When we first got the truck the lhead lights were wired directly to a toggle switch in the dash, because the fuse box was sooo bad off. The part in the engine compartment looked like it had been sitting in a swamp for years, but the wiring inside the cab was clean and seemed to be fine. We pulled the engine part from the inside part and cleaned all of the connections. We now have the head lights hooked up correctly and working off of the original light switch. I have also gotten the gauge lights to work and dim correctly as long as i dont hit the turn signal.

I am guessing there must be wires crossed some where, but I am having a hard time reading the wiring diagrams clearly enough to find whats wrong. What do I need to check first?
