All Driver Side Cylinders Missing

I've got an engine question for you guys. It's a 2001 2500hd 6.0 2wd and all the cylinders on the driver side are missing #1#3#5#7. the passenger side is perfect 0 misses. when i stick it on the floor or climb a hill or just about anything past 1/4 throttle is starts knocking like the engine is comming apart and the service engine soon light flashes. I'm using hp tuner software to read the info about which individual cylinders are missing, i've checked compressing 125-130lbs on all 8 cylinders, i've done a leak down on test on #1#3 and it was 5% and 4%, i swapped coil banks from one side to the other, i replaced the map sensor and cleaned and moved the fuel injectors from one side to the other and still the engine misses on the driver side. I've checked for vacuum leaks the best way i know how and found nothing. The only thing i can imagine from hear is some sort of electrical problem, the entire head is bad in some way, or a timing chain slip.

Has anyone here had this sort of thing happen to them? I'm about to pull my hair out :dunno:

Not sure this has anything to do with your issue, but my 05 8.1 would only miss/hesitate during the car wash. so my buddy put the snap-on scanner on and we sprayed each coil pack with water and found it was 5, 6 missing. and the visual inspection ofthe old coil was surprising..the metal surrounding the coil was swolen and rusted...faling apart. just thinking wouldnt hurt to check your coils

FIXED!!!!!!!!!

turns out that the catalytic converter on the driver side of the engine is plugged or busted in some way. i couldn't get it out all the way to look at bcause of the crossmember and me being pissed off at the truck so i just shoved it to the side and drove it with the open exhaust....noisy but no more pinging a knocking and no more missing on the hp tuner scanner software.

I would have never believed it if it hadn't happed to me.

Anyone recommend a good performance cat and muffler???????????????????

Not sure about the cats, but im gonna put borla xr1 on my truck my second choice would be magnaflow.

Be carefull of cheap and/or highflow converters if you have smog checks. After 3 oem converters on a 95 Jeep, I put a Catco on. It wouldn't pass the test.
