6" Oval Side Step Hardware Question

I am not sure if this is the right section for this type of question (If not can an admin please move it)

I bought a set of 6" oval side steps at a steal of a price, the reason they were so cheap was because they lost the hardware for them. I am now trying to track them down. I started with the local dealer but they were not much help. They told me they do not just sell the hardware and they would need to order what he called "replacement part" and it was $7 a bolt and $6 a clip (16 of each)

I was wondering if anyone here knew what size bolt and clip was needed?

These steps are the ones that bolt to the underside of the rocker panel.

My instruction sheet lists the following

M8 X 30mm bolt Qty 16

U nut for reg cab - qty 12

U nut for ext cab - qty 16

U nut for cc cab - qty 12

The clip would need to fit the M8 x 30mm as it is threaded

Hope this helps a bit?

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for.

I actually tracked down a set of mounting hardware at another GMC dealer nearby. They had 3 sets of hardware in a desk from some warranty replacements they did. The best part was they gave me all 16 bolts and 16 u-nuts for free.

Steps are now on the truck and look great (and my 8.5 month pregnant wife really appreciates them also)

thats great the dealer hooked you up ........ I bought a set for cheap off Craigslist and didnt realize you had to add clips to the rocker panels to install. I found them at Fastenal for about $15 after I was quoted the steep price at GM place as well, luckily they had the bolts. They are super nice rails and my wife appreciates them as well.

Technical Service Bulletin 09-08-61-001A lists the individual components of the 6 and 3" steps by part number.

I bought mine from a member here, and when I opened the box and saw the mounting hardware I could not believe that was all that was needed. I was expecting some larger bolts, or at least some heavy brackets. Still amazes me that just those small bolts and some u-nuts can do what it does.

Has anyone else had trouble with the bolt size and the fwd inserts on each side of the upper bracket mount?

It seems the inserts on my 07' are smaller then the bolts provided.

Thanks,
