Side View Mirrors Replacement

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm looking for some guidance on replacing the side view mirror(s) on a 1996 K2500 Suburban. These are electric mirrors.

Do I remove the platic cover from the inside?

Any help from someone who's done this before greatly appreciated.

I've attached an image of the mirror, it appears there are three bolts that may be removed from outside the vehicle.

I'm somewhat surprised no one has replied; I managed to remove the internal trim piece which covers the bolts. This trim is triangular in shape and about four inches long. It can be removed by pushing at the bottom and moving it straight up.

Once removed, there is an insulator piece that protects the bolts. This comes out easily by just pulling on it. Once removed, there are 3-10mm nuts holding the mirror.

Two of the three nuts are somewhat difficult to get to, but not impossible. The bottom right hand side nut (when looking at the passenger's side view mirror from inside the truck) is next to impossible. I have a good assortment of quality tools and none worked.

I am trying to find out if there is a special tool to get to this one nut.

Thanks.
