Low Engine Power

This may be an old subject rehashed but... I run a Chevy 1 ton dually 4x4 at work. Off road in Low range sometimes the engine will shut down to idle and display "Low Engine Power" on DIC. The only way to get going again is to shut down, remove key, get out and shut the door. Getting back in and restarting the engine all is normal except the check engine light. The dealer tech told me it is a feature to prevent self-destruction of the engine and it is built in. He was able to update the throttle delay issue which made me either slip the clutch or stall.

Any of this make sense?

Is this a newer truck with the drive by wire throttle body? I had a similar problem when a mouse ate my wiring harness

Gregs: Its a 2005 and has acted this way since new. Always happens when losing some traction climbing a steep grade off-road in low range.

well two thoughts first one is that there is some kind of wiring issue going to the throttle actuator module, and second there are some torque limiting values in your truck for the front&rear propshafts, axels, and input and output shaft. i've never had a problem hitting them so i'm not certain what exactly happens when you hit them.
