6" Or 7" Lift?

Hey everyone. Im going to be lifting my 05 1500 next month, and debating on my options. Should i go 6" or 7"? Also debating on 35" or 37" tires. Will 37" tires clear with a 7" lift on my gmt800, or will i have to do a 1.5" body lift as well?

Well in my experience 6" will fit 35" tires just fine and if you plan on running 37" tires your going to need the 3" body lift. :P

Thanks for the replies. Im looking at mainly the Fabtech, BDS, or Procomp. Im pretty sold on the BDS 6 1/2" lift, read alot of positive on here with BDS and their lifetime warranty. With what you've said, think i'll stick with 35s, really dont want to do much of a body lift. Maybe down the road when/if i feel the need more height, i can do the body lift and put on some 37s. Im also doing the 4.88 gear swap, which should help alot. Thanks again for the replies! :P

BDS is good stuff, but you will need more lift to run 37's. if you did decide to run 37's then you should look at Cognito's 7-9" kit

Jimmy is correct on the lift for 37 inchers. Cognito makes a damn good kit too! I have a 1500 avalanche with a 4" Rancho kit (not sure why they call it 4" as the subframe and knuckles measure 6") which I like because of the one piece subframe. It is stout! I personally will not run more than 35"s on a 1500. The upper ball joints are not real strong and if you go dual shock that attaches to the upper A arm that will severely shorten their life. Also pitman and idler are will not like 37s at all, they will wear out fast. Whatever kit you get, make sure it is a knuckle type kit! Any kit that uses brackets to drop steering linkage is not a good idea! Trust me, I had to switch out a bracket type lift for my Rancho I have now!

6" Kits that you should look at on a 1500 are: Cognito, Superlift FIT, Rancho, Tuff country, and maybe rcd.
