Throttle Body Issues

My 09 Silverado 5.3 has 31,000 miles and todat had the Throttle body replaced for the second time. First was at around 8000 miles. Same symptoms ecah time. Starts with the engine either dying or running on maybe 4 cylinders, Idiot lites come on like you are in Vegas. We were on vacation this time and the dealer says it is due to the bad gas that is on the market. GM paid but why does this problem exist? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks on edit: Here is a pot from another forum. The poster is a gm tech and went on to say that at the time of the post there were more than 12000 on BO.

 

What you have going on with your truck is an issue with the throttle body,the truck has a fly by wire throttle and when a code sets it goes to reduced power mode to prevent the throttle from opening on its own due to a mechanical or electrical issue.We have replaced at least 20 throttle bodies in the last few weeks with a similar concern.Contact your dealer Monday and tell them the symptoms,they should know what to do.

If you have an issue PM me,I could probably help.If your truck is in reduced power mode cycle the ignition on and off several times and it should clear reduced power mode,if it has a hard failure it will not clear the reduced power mode and the truck should be towed.Chevy roadside number is 1 800 CHEV USA

the throttle body is never exposed to gasoline, I don't understand the logic in their explanation.

The service writer had given me the GM bulletins on this issue but I tossed them. The WO has the following:

 

Replace throttle body

12629992 and 12589235.
