Tire Width

I need to buy new tires for my 2011 sierra 2500hd 4x4 crew cab long box. I currently have 265/70/17 size tires on it. Am I able to go with a wider tire on the same rim that will work safely?

Thanks,

Nick

You can just turn your torsion bars up a few turns and throw some 285/70/17's on there. It will look much better. I think you can probably even get by with a 295/70/17 if you crank the bars a little more. And to answer your question about the rims...yes, you can put a wider tire on the stock rims. You could probably go all the way up to a 305 width (with a smaller aspect ratio) and be ok, that that's about the max. Any wider than that, and you should probably buy wider wheels as well. 285's would be a safe bet, while still making it look much better than stock.

DOH!! Didn't see it was a 2500. Just saw 2011. Yep, crank your torsion bars!
