High Flow Cats

I have a 2004 6.0l and have been looking at magnaflow high flow cats. I tow with the truck and was wondering if I will lose bottom end. Anybody have any experience with them

You won't loose torque or HP you will gain both at peak RPM. However, you could loose a little low RPM torque.. I used to have a link to a really good article about this.... this one may help a bit: http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/eng...tScavenging.pdf

 

Basically backpressure is always a bad thing. However, the diameter of the exhaust is important. If your stick large diameter exhaust on a small engine, the exhaust will loose velocity, and you will loose power. I think is where the whole "back pressure is good" view point comes from. People putting 4'' exhaust on their 4 banger and loosing power.

If your cats are working I would leave them in. If they need to be replaced i would bite the bullet and buy the OEM cats. Aftermarket cats usually don't last as long as originals and can throw codes even when new.
