Rear view cam.

Finally installed my rear view cam (Thanks Walt). I Purchased a stock looking rear view cam from ADC mobile. It took me about an hour to run the wire and hook it all up to my OGM1. Easy install if you don't use the license plate lights for the ground. here is a pic at night. I have two complaints. One is the bar on the bottom! That is an OGM1 issue, they need to make it transparent or move it up, one or the other. second is the fact that the camera is off center on the truck and the lines are off center.. You have to remember this or it will get you in trouble and quickly. Other than that I`m loving it! Thanks again Walt.

Pretty decent night sensitivity, isn't it? I'm impressed...

 

BTW: The suggestion on the opacity of the bar was passed on immediately - if they change it, that's your mod!

 

John's post brings up a good point regarding where to tap for camera voltage and ground. I know the temptation is to go where it's easy, but generally, if you make your connections outside the cab, you will have issues at some point, whether with video noise or intermittent operation. When I caught up with John to diagnose the intermittent problem he was having, the ground connection was bad due to an off-brand "T-Tap" that he picked up at a local parts store (we only use 3M "951" T-Taps for the stuff we tap to), but that wasn't necessarily the fix, as he found out later - the ground lead for the license plate light was TU.

 

We ALWAYS make our camera connections inside the cab where it's nice and dry, and we generally never have to worry about corrosion or poor connections...
