Bluetooth in my 07 Silverado LT??

could anyone help me out with this, I just recently purchased a 2007.5(new Body Style) Silverado LT. It is equipped with factory bluetooth, steering wheel controls, and CD (non-bose) and i was reading in a post on here about adding the option of Bluetooth to the truck where you would be able to use the speakers in the truck and possibly even the mic mounted in the headliner. But the thread didn't really give me any definite answers for my personal truck. Therefore i was wondering if there is something out there that i can purchase that basically allows me to just install it and use the speakers in my truck and steering wheel controls to start/stop phone calls and possibly even use the mic in my headliner. I don't want to replace the factory modules or anything and i don't care if i loose On-Star because i don't use it anyways, i feel the bluetooth capability would be allot more useful.

any help with this would be awesome!

Bluetooth was not a factory option in these trucks until 2009. That being said, you can retrofit the Onstar module from a 2009 and up that has factory bluetooth and you will gain bluetooth, but lose Onstar without some considerable effort. Be aware that the dealer is not just going to sell you a new Onstar module. They are a controlled item for some reason. I did this to my 08 and the bluetooth is perfect. At one point, I had the part numbers that you needed to acquire, but I dont remember them and cant find them. Look on here at Schram auto parts and give them a buzz. They should be able to help you out. You can also search ebay for bluetooth vcim or onstar module and use the description data to determine if it the one you need.

Here is one on ebay that will work for your truck. There are multiple part numbers on the listing too. Any of them should work and you can use them as a reference. You also need the bluetooth antenna that attaches to the module. They are cheap. It takes about ten minutes to swap out the module. It;s located behind the panel in the center lower section of the dash.

Edit: This listing comes with a free bluetooth antenna and the units are brand new.

Galaxy1000.com used to advertise on the site, I think it does what you need.

thanks allot for all the replies guys. But when i was reading through the post on adding the bluetooth feature i noticed there were a couple items that people posted about like the Schosche ones and a BlueStar or something like that. Therefore i what id prefer to find is something that i can buy (probably aftermarket because it'd be cheaper) that i can wire into my factory head unit that will give me bluetooth capability in my truck, something that doesn't require replacing the module and what not. Just something that will allow me to keep as much factory functionality as possible.

The bluestar is a replacement for the onstar module that has almost the same functionality of the factory, but not quite. You WILL lose onstar with that unit. The schosche stuff I am not aware of a direct replacement unit that will give you the functionality of the factory. The updated onstar module with bluetooth is the absolute easiest way to go. You will gain ALL of the factory features like answering the call and setting volime from the steering wheel controls, seeing the incoming number on the radio, and using the voice commands to dial. The aftermarket stuff is ok, but none of them have all of the functionality. Also the link to ebay I sent is for new units that have never been programmed. This may allow you to call onstar once installed and initialize the unit to your truck with relative ease. Take it from the guys that have done this, go factory, you will not regret that decision.

Here's a poor mans Bluetooth, this is what I do and it works fine for me. It's not like factory or an aftermarket Bluetooth headset but it's easy and does not cost but $5.00 for a cord. I have a HTC EVO phone, but any phone with a earbud jack. I plug the accessory cord into the earbud jack on my phone, and plug the other end in the accessory port on the radio unit. When the phone rings I just hit the button for ACCESSORY on the radio head, answer my phone and then I hear my phone over my speakers. The mic on my phone is strong enough to pick up my voice from just hanging on the dash. Works good for me :smoker:

this was another thing that Ive heard about, I'm just doing research at the moment to see whats out there. Ill probably cave and do the module switch like you guys recommended but it sure would be nice to find something like thats reversible and where i don't have to mess with On-Star.
