Salt spreader on a 2500HD

hey,

I have a plow bussiness and have HI-WAY 8ft solid steel salter, I put the salter in my 2002 GMC sierra 2500HD reg cab/long box. the salter weights about 800lbs and a yard of salt weights about 2000lbs.

I put the salter in the other day and the rear seems to go down a little. I drove around for a week and it seems ok , but would like to keep the truck level, just wanted to know if you guys would think getting a set of supersprings would be a good idea.

I will be driving with the salter on for few months so I wanted to know if it would be worth investing in set of supersprings or would the stock springs be good enough. looking to use this truck for a while and would like everything to last a while.

thanks

might be cheaper to go to a local spring replacement shop and have them add 1 leaf to each side.

looks like super springs are more expensive than a basic air bag kit.

I do think they would help, but not solve the issue.

The air bag kits about 225$. your super spring idea is 375ish. The bags will do the job just fine. you don't need the compressor, just fill them up when the salters in, and deflate them in the spring when you take it out. I know Hen's added an extra spring and he uses a salt spreader with his 3/4 ton and a 8' western. He preaches his extra hd spring. but the bags should do the same, and provide factory ride when you don't need them just like your Super spring.

i saw a few threads, here in canada the supersprings were 507 and 79 for mounting kit plus tax, so around 600. I went to my local shop and got a 1/2inch hd spring put in for 370, made a big difference
