Sirus Radio

Bought a new 2010 siverado with a free 90day sirus radio subscription. Extended for 1 year after but didn't renew in September of this year so they discontinued service. This past Saturday and today, I'm getting sirus on My 2010 silverado. Anyone know what's up with this ? I don't want to call them and ruin a neat thing. Thanks to all in advance

Surely you can't be sirius! And stop calling me "Shirley"......OK, so much for being a smartass in the morning. They have been known to spontaneously turn on discontinued radios for a few weeks at a time in an effort to lure the listener back as a subscriber. The channel selection is usually limited, and if they have your email address, they should have sent you a message advising you of the complimentary turn-on. Kick back and enjoy; it's all free.

I enjoy 50/60's music and My old ford truck wasn't capable so I bought a sirus capable radio and docking staion. The small plug in also works in a boom box I bought so I didn't renew My truck sirus because I now could plug the boombox in My truck or anywhere I wanted and pay one subscription price rather than two. I scabbed a 12volt adaptor plug after the transformer on the A/C plug and run it off the cigarrete lighter. I may install a docking system in the truck as the truck radio has better sound quality than the boombox and the small plug in unit is easier to carry. Just some info for others.

Why not buy one of the little ipod looking portables that you can plug in via 1/8 jack to any amp (including the boom box)? I've seen them on sale for $30 to $60 or so, and they can be moved around easily. Plugging into the 1/8 jack is easy, and offers much better sound. You can probably get a 12V power adapter on ebay for $5 for most of them (haven't checked, but I did for my Sansa Fuze and my phone too)...

I got 3 free months when I bought my 2010 last October (of 2010) it has now been 13 months and it is still working.. I've never contacted them, never given then a credit card, :shrug: there problem..

I got a 12 month subscription for buying during "Truck Month" but I just got a letter from XM saying my 3 month trial sub was up in Dec. Will see what happens. Not sure if I will renew after the year or not. Maybe at half price but with the USB mp3 player built in, I don't really need XM. In the Challenger, Sirius shut off my radio the day it expired !

In my 1998 truck I had a cheap mp3 player that plugged into the cigar lighter and played over the FM radio. It was good enough for the sound system in that truck.

Yeah they turned mine back on trying to lure me in. I got a letter in the mail about it. I don't care for xm or sirius.
