AMP wiring kit? Probably a simple answer!

I just bought a custom down firing box, 10" JL Audio WO (300 watts cont, 600 watts max) and an Alpine MRP-M500 300 watts @ 4 ohms. I got the adapter for my 11 Silverado (crew cab) bc it has the bose system. I know this is a very small set up, im 30 so i didnt want much, just a little thump, and i wanted to keep some space under my rear seats.

The ? is, ive tried researching this and cant seem to get a straight answer. What kind/size Amp wiring kit do i need?

everything says just get 4 gauge, but im sure i dont need that thick with my setup. Also ive heard, for a wiring kit, save your money and dont buy the brand name ones.

Your thoughts......

Thanks in advance fellas and Happy holidays!

Well most people get 4gauge incase they ever decide to upgrade, you could get away with some high quality 8 gauge wire but 4 is your best bet. Also, if you decide to skimp on name brand wire, you will get what you pay for, I've seen cheap kits say 4 gauge and turn out to be 8 because they wrap the wire with very thick plastic shielding so don't skimp but don't over spend, look at sonicelectronix.com I buy my stuff from their and they are cheaper than crutchfield and have better offers and most things are free shipping too.

Yeah definitely, don't starve your nice equipment by using 8 ga wire. If you look at the different wiring kits, you'll see that their jacket thickness will differ. For example, a quality 8 ga wire will have just as much copper in it as a cheap 4 ga. I always go to the local shop and buy the wire by the foot and any pieces I may not have laying around, that way you get a good setup that you know is done right and you save a few bucks since you aren't paying $5 or $6 for a single or a 2 pack of gold plated connectors at say best buy or somewhere like that.
