2011 transmission problem - 6.2L with 6 speed

Hi guys, newb here. I've had my '11 1500 since June, got 13K on it today. I've done some minor mods: 2" lift/level, 33x12.50 mickeys, black fuel hostages, black full lenght tube bars, tint, and an edge CS tuner.

2 weeks ago the truck started stinking something awful, a lot like hot asphalt at first then like burnt oil. I mean I thought someone in front of me was about to catch fire. Turns out it was my truck. Next day the trans started slipping and not staying engaged. Took the tuner off immediately, but it didn't help. After 2 weeks the dealer put a new trans in it. I just got it back. I don't think the new trans is shifting perfectly, it seems to be kind of caught between gears sometimes.

Has anyone else had trans trouble, and do you think the tuner started my problems? I admit I did let the 6.2 eat some burnouts and the 33x12.50 MTZs probably don't help, but I can't imagine I blew thru a tranny with a dozen burnouts.

I actually traded in an 08 on this truck when the engine went out at 75K. I love the new truck, but I'm starting to wonder how a Ford drives.

the trans is probably trying to relearn your driving habits...hope you learned your lesson with the tuner

If this isn't a troll, I would say first off disconnect the negative battery cable for a few mins and then hook it back up to reset the computer. After you let it idle for a few mins, go out and drive it. It will learn your driving style. IMO, I don't think a tune caused your tranny probs but it may have.

The tuner may have caused the issue, but maybe not.

What went wrong in the old tranny?

I would do like chris above me said....... diconnect, reconnect then the tranny has to relearn your habits. All of the 6 speeds act like that until they learn when new.

You could always chunk that tuner, and get the Autocal with Blackbear Performance and you will never look back

Your actually the first I've read who had problems with the 6-speed like this. I agree with the others. The tranny has adaptive learning that needs to take place. Give that a try and go from there. I'd also inform GM of what your doing so they know you have a concern after the trans been fixed to see if they agree.

They never expressed what went wrong with the old tranny. They originally told me they were ordering a few parts for the internals, and when I asked for a parts list they said they'd have to get back to me, then they said GM engineers OK'd the new trans.

My driving habits vary from day to day and drive to drive. Sometimes I just cruise along and chat on the phone inspecting properties, and not too uncommonly I am running late for a meeting and I drive pretty aggressive.

I will disconnect the neg cable and give that a try.

Go buy a Ford and try one out. I am here because of they have there issues too. My tranny went on my Ford at 66K had other problems I just threw in the towel and said I will not buy another. Always had good luck with all my GM cars except one of them. This is my First Chevy truck. I purchased it last February and love it!
