Creeking sound when turning the wheel one direction only

On my '05 CCSB 4x4 I've recently noticed a louder sound that I've never heard before. Here are the symptoms:

 

1. When I turn the steering wheel the the left from a stand still I hear a creeking sound coming from the front.

 

2. As I accelerate while the wheel is still in any portion of the left turned wheel the creeking disappears only to be replace with a grinding sound that is accompanied with a repetitive grating sound as if I had something wrapped along the axle and it gets knocked around every revolution.

 

3. As soon as the wheel is returned to center the noise disappears.

 

4. None of the above sounds was noticed if the wheel is turned to the right.

 

I'm not sure what it could be - wheel bearing, CV joints, transfer case components, suspension? It's really a crap shoot but since it only happens when turning left hopefully someone can assist with the prognosis. Not sure if it's a safety concern. I could live with it but after driving this truck for the last six years it's been problem free and only has 132,000 kms but I do notice it.

Additional info -

 

1. Only happens when moving forward. Sound not evident when reversing.

2. Sound also occurs when in neutral.

3. Sound doesn't diminish when brakes are applied.

Ive just starting noticing the same noise lately... Mine dosent happen every time tho. At first i thought i was dragging something with front drv tire.

Further info:

- grinding sound as I move straight

- right wheel was much warmer to the touch than the left wheel

- noted the shake when the 12/6 o'clock test was performed

 

Solution: replaced right hub bearing assembly.
