Leveling Kit & Wheel Offset

Hi to everyone, I just traded in my JK Rubicon for a silver '08 extended cab silverado. I'm loving the truck so far.

I know this topic has been discussed over and over, but I couldn't find any information regarding different wheel offsets. I plan to do a 2" leveling kit in the front as well as one inch bigger blocks in the rear, and will be running 285/70/R17 Duratracs... which is the largest recommended size, correct?

Anyways, I'd like to get some aftermarket 17's that "stick out" a bit farther than stock... As much as possible without rubbing. Some offsets that I'm considering:

+ 31mm (stock, will not rub)

+ 25mm (I don't think this will rub)

+ 18mm (might require a little trimming)

+ 0mm (this requires trimming both the fender and some metal, from what I've read)

So, for everyone running a 285/70 tire on a 17" rim (or an equivalent tire size), post up your offset and whether or not you had to trim your fender. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

I can tell you on a 4x4 with stock tires on a 17x8 aftermarket rims with a 0 offset. I can get my tires to rub in reverse going upgrade while turning. When I had my 2008 I had 285x70x17's on a 17x8 0 offset. I had to raise the front 4" for it not to rub at all. I had 1.5" body lift and a 2.5 leveling kit. I hope this helps..

Personally if I was buying new wheels I wouldn't want anything more than +18. Aftermarket wheels with no dish look like crap to me. If you feel comfortable trimming then get 0 offset it will look the best.

My wheels are +25 offset, and my 285's just barely rub my mud flaps when I'm backing up with the wheels turned. Without mud flaps, I don't think they would rub.

I tried to post a link, but it's not working. Use the advanced search option and search for "New Tires & Wheels Installed" as a topic title....it's the thread I started when I first put my lift, wheels, and tires on my truck.
