I also posted this in general discussion because I figured someone might have heard a ONE CHAMBER flowmaster on an s10. I figured I need to post it here as well, so here I go. Has anyone heard a one chamber racing flowmaster on 4.3L? I am afraid it will sound "ricey" at higher rpm's, which is where all of my power is at. I don't want a two chamber because my brother has this muffler on his 89 s10, I don't want mine to sound the same. I want it louder

If anyone has suggestions for another muffler give me some ideas! Has anyone ever put a borla exhaust on there 4.3?

Thanks for any help.

I had a DynoMax Super Turbo on my 4.3 and I loved it.

Personally I think Flow's sound like a$$ on anything but 5.0L Mustang's and old school BBC's.

Did your muffler increase your torque/ horsepower? How much was it? How long did it last, and where did you get it from? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, but that is the only way I will find out about it. Thanks fr the suggestions.

I dunno, I never dyno'd it.  :D  And I'll be honest, my butt-o-meter isn't a precise instrument.  :D

My stock muffler went out (believe it or not) like a year or two after I bought the truck.  I bought it online at www.a-1performance.com (or something like that, which is the same place I bought the DynoMax cat-back for the Tahoe later) but at that time, only Borla had a true cat-back system available.  So mine was simply a muffler that I put in place of the stock one.  I used the stock piping.

Now they have an actual cat-back for them, so you may get even better sound and performance than I did.  I should have some Wav files of it at home if I can find them.  I thought it sounded kick butt, but that may also be due to the fact that 4.3's sound nice and grumbly anyway.

It was still on the truck when I traded it in about two years ago......

Like I said previously, I prefer DynoMax.  I've had them on every truck I've owned.

Give me a few minutes, I found some wav files here that I'll upload.

Sweet!  Thanks for the hookup my friend.

At idle it sounds tough.  Revving is a little ricey, but what do expect from the 4.3L.  I listened to the revving file several times and it actually sounds like a nice race exhaust sound.

Hopefully next year I can swing this setup and get my K/N FIPK too!   :thumb:

That isn't exactly an audiophile's dream in terms of sound quality.  That was simply me setting the timer on my digital camera and running around to rev it.

In reality, it didn't sound ricey at all.  I have a video of me driving away from my video camera and it sounds a$$ kickingly cool...deep and rumbly (as much as a 4.3 will get anyway).

Sorry for the late reply. But thanks for the info, I like the way that sounds, but I am hoping I can get form somewhere else, for cheaper. 350 is kinda expensive. My bro got his flow plus labor for only 300. It is a two chamber with one in one out. Anyway, thanks alot for your help.
