Dumb question

This may sound dumb and I've bee here for awhile and have read a lot about the ford keys, Hill Leveling kit and I was just wondering if those keys will work on the HD platform without any problems. I was going to go with a redneck lift get the keys up front and add a spring or two to the back to acquire the desired ride height.. Thanks in advance.

I'm 95% positive they will work. I swear I've seen pics of HD's with the Ford Keys installed.

I think before I would add a couple of leafs to the rear springs (unless you really need the extra load carrying capacity), I would just put a 1" or 2" block between the axle and the bottom of the springs. Two things you would need to check is the pinion angle and the shock length, but I bet you would be OK with it.

I heard somewhere that the HD's have a different "key". Myself, I did the torsion bar crank. A few turns and mine sits level now. I see no need to buy an over priced out of whack Ford part. No way that is going on my Chevy.

Makes sense with me.. My only problem is that my torsion bar adjustment bolts are about 1/4" from being bottomed out from the factory...Is yours the same way?

BDBWTE, what kind of T-bars do you have? Your problem can be answered by possibly just getting a heavier set of bars. Check to see what your rating is on your bars. There should be a sticker on them with two Upper Case letters. Take those numbers and reference these. I myself have the GL bars. I turned mine to where the truck sits level with 285's on 16x8 wheels. I sit right at 41.25 inches front and rear. I still have 1/2" to 3/4" of bolt showing.

I have a Ranch Hand and that is a constant load on the nose of the truck and squated it about 1" or so. So if I just step up the torsion bar it will bring the nose of the truck up? Another question is do you have any idea what the T-Bars cost? Thanks for your time again.

Yes, if you use a higher torque rating bar, your truck will not sag as much. Its pretty simple, the higher the torque rating, the more weight it takes to "twist the bars". According to .GM Parts Direct They are about $107 each.

I have 3 capital letters.... LGL on the left and RGL on the right. So I guess they are GL rated bars then.

Yep. Sure do. So you have a good set of bars. It will take a lot for those to sag.

HD Locks for the Torsion bars they Work awesome and the guy is great to talk to about the locks......I added the locks and a 1 in spacer and Love it!!!

I don't see any on E-bay right now...keep checking under Silverado HD Lift he has some pics of a couple HD's he's lifted......I got them for $100

I could be wrong but everybody that I have asked said that the ones on ebay are nothing but the F**d parts w/ the part numbers grinded off. I guess you can just order them through F**D for a lot less. I believe you can do a search using ford keys, some of the threads gave the correct ford part numbers. The 15000 & 2500/3500 keys are different. Hope this is of some help, at least it might save you some bucks.
